Pink Slips

This is a pink slip that has been sent to the RTA electronically. This allows you to renew your Rego online or by phone. You must visit an e-Safety Check Inspection Station to get your e-Safety Check.

This is a safety inspection report that proves your car is roadworthy. All vehicles more than 5 years old require a safety inspection as a condition of registration renewal. Your registration renewal notice will advise you if your vehicle needs an inspection. To get the pink slip, you need to take your vehicle to an Authorised Inspection Station (AIS).

This is a fully comprehensive inspection report which includes a complete check of the vehicle. The inspection involves a thorough  examination of all mechanical components and also the bodywork, paintwork and under structure, for evidence of any damage, or repairs needed.

T-Ranz Tyre & Auto have performed thousands of inspections, and have fully qualified e-safety inspectors on site every day. We can usually do the inspection whilst you wait.

LPG Registration Inspection - LPG E Safety Check

T-Ranz tyre and auto have a licenced LPG inspector on site. During an LPG e safety inspection, in addition to the above checks, the following items are also checked

1. Every 10 years the gas tank needs to be re certified. This means the tank is        pressured, checked for leaks, and damage to the cylinder.

2. The shut off valve on the cylinder is checked to make sure the gas flow can be stopped in case of emergency. This is checked by turning off the valve, and letting the engine run until it stalls.

3. All the mounting fittings for the mixer, gas piping, and cylinder are checked for security.

4. An approved compliance plate is affixed to the vehicle showing the date the system was installed

Blue Slips

An Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection report (blue slip) verifies that an unregistered vehicle is safe, and it meets design and identity standards. All unregistered light vehicles need a blue slip inspection before they can be registered in NSW. This includes vehicles:

  • whose registration has expired more than 3 months ago

  • that have been brought into NSW from interstate or overseas

  • that have no number plates

  • that were written-off, but have now been approved for re-registration

  • that require adjustments in their registration records because something about the vehicle has changed significantly, such as a new engine

  • that needs defect notices cleared.

In most cases, the result of an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection is sent to Transport for NSW electronically, and the report is valid for 42 days.

Defect Notice

A defect notice can be issued by RMS, NSW Police or the EPA, when a vehicle is found to be on a public road with defects that may make them unsuitable for registration.  Things like vehicle noise, vehicle modifications, bald tyres, etc are common sources of defect notices.

Modified vehicles require a compliance certificate (previously called an engineers report) for the modifications from an AVE (Authorised Vehicle Examiner), Signatory or VSCCS Certifier, before attending a blueslip inspection.

After repairs have been completed the vehicle must be presented to an unregistered vehicle or blueslip inspector to have the vehicle infected and the defect cleared.
